KALQ: New keyboard layout for mobile devices

We all are familiar with the QWERTY keyboard as most of us are using such type of keyboard for our daily use. QWERTY is the most efficient typing layout for desktop and laptop but if you are using such keyboards in a smart phone or on a tablet some times it is annoying to type in such keyboards because of the congested arrangement of keys. So to avoid this problem scientists and researchers found a new way that we could type more efficiently in smart phones and tablets. KALQ was developed by researchers from the University of St. Andrews, and the Max Plank Institute for Informatics and Montana Tech. It was named after the row of letters at the right-bottom of the layout like wise of QWERTY layout. The researchers says that by practicing typing in KALQ, you can reach the QWERTY typing speed in 8 hours and can surpass your QWERTY typing speed with in 19 hours.

World's Lightest Material Ever Invented!

The Chinese scientist Prof. Gao Chao of Department of Polymer  Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University and team invented the  world's ever lightest material which might have a good role in pollution  control and purification.   It has a mass of 0.16 milligram, according to the Scientists which is less  denser than air. The previous record holder is an aerographite. The new material is 12 percent lighter than the previous one. It was made up of graphene which is a lightest compound of carbon. Aerogel is a low-density solid-state material derived from gel in which  the liquid component of the gel has been replaced with gas. The result  is an extremely low density solid with several remarkable properties.

Technologies to Cure Night Blindness/ Tunnel Vision

Good news for the people who are visually aided with Retinitis Pigmentosa or otherwise known as Night Blindness or Tunnel Vision.  It is a tiny implantable microchip permitted patients, who had given up on seeing again to read a clock or identify daily objects. The wafer-thin device is to be implanted for the first time in University of Oxford and London, with surgery scheduled within weeks, the Daily Mail reported. Most of the middle-aged patients were to be treated for retinitis pigmentosa.  A microchip packed with 1,500 light sensors is implanted to the back of the eye. The sensors convert light to electrical signals, which stimulate nerves in the retina to pass down signals to optic nerve which would gap into the brain to form an image. It's time for the nano revolution. Nanotech research, which is the science of manipulating matter at molecular scale, has come a long way in recent years. Scientists envision a future in which nanorobots, machines and transporters perform a variety of tasks benefiting industries ranging from medicine to manufacturing. Now the dreams coming true. A tiny nano-sized car which can propel itself forward in response to electrical pulses has been created by scientists in the Netherlands. The electric-powered vehicle, which is the size of a single molecule, has a chassis and four paddle-shaped wheels and is roughly one-billionth the size of a traditional hatchback car. The car traveled six nanometers on its initial journey and required 500 millivolts of electricity for every half revolution of its wheels, quite a bit proportionately.

'Artificial Leaf'-A New Energy Source

Researchers from Massachusetts Institute of Technology have invented the world's first artificial leaf that can turn water into hydrogen and oxygen with the help of sunlight without needing any external connections, is seen with some real leaves, which also convert the energy of sunlight directly into storable chemical form. Researchers led by MIT professor Daniel Nocera have produced something they’re calling an “artificial leaf”: Like living leaves, the device can turn the energy of sunlight directly into a chemical fuel that can be stored and used later as an energy source. In this a silicon solar cell with different catalytic materials bonded onto its two sides which needs no external wires or control circuits to operate. Yes! It is possible now! by simply switching on the light bulb or LED, you can also switch on the wireless internet connection at home. The British Physicist of Edinburgh University Prof. Harald Hass who claims to have developed a technology which can send data through the same connection as a normal lamp.Prof. Harald says the invention , dubbed D-light can send data faster than 10 megabits/second, which is the speed of a typical broadband connection, by altering the frequency of the ambient light in the room. He says the other possibilities of the device which he has dubbed "Li-Fi", or Light Fidelity include sending wireless data from 'white space' in your TV spectrum and unused satellite signals. RBI to Introduce Plastic 10 Rupee Notes

RBI (Reserve Bank of India) the apex banking institution of India has decided to introduce100 crore pieces of polymer 10 rupee notes. The bank notes are made from the polymer Bi axially Oriented Polypropylene(BOPP) which greatly enhances durability of the bank notes. Polymer bank notes also incorporate many security features which are not available to paper bank notes, making counterfeiting much more difficult. And so, imitations of Indian Rupee can be widely reduced.   According to the Senior officials from RBI, the life time of plastic(polymer) bank notes have life time 5 times than that of paper bank notes. RBI has called a global tender to produce the polymer bank notes. This technology was first introduced in Australia in 1988.  The nations New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Romania, Bermuda, Brunei and Vietnam also now using this technology.
